Pars Foodbank Appeal

Dunfermline Athletic FC has launched an appeal to all supporters to donate to the town's foodbank.

Volunteers are setting up collection points, arranging transport, and contacting local businesses for help.

Fans will be able to take food and other items to East End Park or other collection points, and make cash donations at the next two home games.

DAFC Chairman, Bob Garmory said “once again we are approaching that time of year when we all expect to enjoy a wonderful festive period with friends and family where overeating and over indulgence is the norm.

However, we in the Pars Family should spare a thought for those in our community who will not be able to enjoy a merry Xmas because of their circumstances. Therefore, our club is proud to play its part in supporting our wider community, and we see this as an opportunity for everyone associated with the Pars to help those worse off than ourselves.

Everybody at the club are absolutely delighted to support this initiative, alongside the PST, DASC, the Kincardine Supporters Club, the Centenary Club Lifeline, 1885 Business Club and the Former Players Association”.

John Drylie of the Trussell Trust, who operate the foodbank, added: "13 million people live below the poverty line in the UK. Our foodbank which is a part of the Trussell Trust has provided food to 2856 people in the past 12 months and that number could double over the next year. A foodbank voucher allows clients the provision of 3 days emergency food.

"The Pars appeal is a wonderful example of how the community can help our efforts, so on behalf of those who use the foodbank I'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone at the club."
