The pastor of a church in Florida has confirmed his planned burning of the
Koran WILL go ahead.
Terry Jones says he has no intention of cancelling the protest on 9/11,
despite strong opposition.
The Taliban has strongly condemned the plans saying it shows "they are against
Islam and that Western countries will pay for it".

A new 35 thousand pounds scheme giving support to sex offenders in Fife has come in for some criticism.
Tim Richley from community safety agency SACRO claims the scheme, Circles Of Support and Accountability was a tried and tested approach.
But Fife Councillor Pat Callaghan thinks the money would be better spent on the victims

There has been a drop in the numbers of Fife's young offenders.
Initiatives supported by the Fife Community Safety Partnership has led to the number of persisent young offenders fall to 42 in 2009/10.
The figure had been as high as 112 in 2006/07
Tim Kendrick, Fife Council's leader on the partnership, says that it's innovative thinking which is making Fife's communities safer.

Scientists have discovered how to help crops flourish in cold climates
A study by researchers at Edinburgh and York Universities identified a gene
that limits the growth of plants in cool environments.
They believe they can manipulate this gene so it can produce the opposite
effect.

10-thousand people who work for the social housing firm Connaught are waiting
to hear if their jobs can be saved.
The business, which is responsible for 180 multi-million pound contracts,
appointed administrators last night.
It maintains council homes and housing association properties.

More than two fifths of young adults in Fife drink to get drunk.
However research by alcohol awareness charity Drinkaware shows that almost three quarters of 18-24 year olds regret their drunken behaviour.
A campaign 'Why Let Good Times Go Bad?' aims to tackle alcohol misuse in the young.

Fife Councils is being urged to prosecute landlords who break laws aimed at protecting tenants.
An investigation by the housing charity Shelter found that a small but dangerous group of landlords are bringing the private-rented sector into disrepute.

It means 1 point 4 million people could be required to shell out nearly 1,500
pounds each to make up a 2 billion pound shortfall.
