Pars relegated to second division

Alloa secured a second successive promotion to reach the Scottish First Division. They lost 1-0 at Dunfermline in the playoffs, but won the two-legged final 3-1 on aggregate. Pars boss Jim Jefferies was disappointed, but says he's still angry about the points deduction penalty for the club going into administration.

East Fife move up

East Fife will be playing Second Division football next season after captain David Muir's goal - three minutes into the second half - was enough to see off Peterhead. It was the only goal in the play-off after Wednesday's first leg finished in a goal-less draw. And it was only the Fifers' third win in their last 21 games.

Saints to play in Europa League

St Johnstone will play in the Europa League next season after beating Motherwell 2-0 in the SPL. They took third place after Inverness lost 1-0 at Ross County. Meanwhile, champions Celtic finished their top-flight campaign with a 4-0 victory at Dundee United.

McDowell tops European money list

Graeme McDowell is now top of the European Tour money list, after his victory in the final of golf's World Match Play Championship in Bulgaria. He's now won just short of £900,000 in the Race to Dubai competition. The victory also put the Northern Irishman up to seventh in the world rankings.

Dettori comeback on hold

Frankie Dettori was scheduled to make his comeback to racing later, but his return is on hold. The British Horseracing Authority can't grant him a licence, because French counterparts, who give him a six-month drugs ban, haven't yet cleared him as fit to race. The meeting at Leicester still goes ahead, and there are also events at Newton Abbot, Redcar, Southwell and Windsor.

Dunfermline look for one last miracle

Administration-hit Dunfermline have it all to do if they're to stay in the First Division.

Alloa take a 3-0 lead into East End Park for the second leg of the Play Off final.

The Pars will be hoping for another remarkable turnaround after last week's 6-1 win over Forar in the semi.

Fife travel up to Peterhead to prevent going down

East Fife are making the long trip north to save themselves from the bottom tier of Scottish football.

The Methil club take a 0-0 draw with Peterhead to Balmoor in the second leg of their play off final.

The two sides battled it out at a blustery bayview on Wednesday with neither team able to break the deadlock.

The Fifers need just a score draw to survive.

Manager Billy Brown hopes they're finally hitting a bit of form to help them secure their place in division two

Final day in the SPL

It's the final day of the SPL season, and a Europa League berth remains up for grabs.

Inverness will confirm European football for the first time if they win at Highland rivals Ross County. If Caley Thistle slip up, St Johnstone would secure the place with a victory at home to Motherwell.

Champions Celtic finish their league campaign with a trip to Dundee United.

Hibernian, who'll play Celtic in the next weekend's Scottish Cup final, ended their top-flight season by beating relegated Dundee 1-0.

Troubled Hearts drew 1-1 with Aberdeen, while St Mirren got past Kilmarnock 3-1.

Goldenbawls plays final game

A tearful David Beckham looked to have played the final game of his career last night.

He was handed the Paris Saint Germain captain's armband for their final home match of the season against Brest.

Beckham was substituted late in the game, and his team-mates gathered in the middle of the pitch to applaud him off.

Beckham says farewell to football

After more than two decades playing for some of the biggest football clubs in the world, David Beckham is just a over a week away from ending his career.

The 38-year-old former England captain has announced he's to retire at the end of the season.

He'll play his last game for Paris Saint-Germain against Lorient a week on Sunday.

Success followed Beckham at every club he played for, including at Manchester United and Real Madrid
