It’s worth keeping an eye on - even if you don’t sign up to be a full member !

Thank you for all the positive feedback regarding some of the new features on Kingdom Evenings … I’m enjoying them too !

Last week on the global chart we ended up looking at the top 10 in China … I wonder where we’ll end up this Monday ! Find out just after 21:30 !

Barry

Fife Tweetup !

July 7th, 2009

As you know most of the guys at Kingdom FM, have a twitter account.  Personally I think I am a little bit hooked on it – and I still don’t know why.

When  a Fife “TweetUp” was suggested by @guydavidcross I figured that I couldn’t pass up a chance to meet some of the people I am following!

If you are on twitter then I think you should find out a bit more by clicking here

@guydavidcross has even used a nifty bit of technology to plan a suitable date for all those interested ! … I may have to make use of doodle when planning future events !

See you there !

I need your help (again!)

March 9th, 2009

I know it seems like I’m always asking for your help! What can I say? I’m very demanding!

On the show today I was talking about the online chart which lists UK radio DJs and their ranking as far as the social-networking-site-of-the-moment Twitter is concerned. The chart position is ranked by number of ‘followers’. Sitting proudly atop the list is Jonathan Ross with nearly 140,000 Twitter users who follow his online updates. That is a lot of people!

As you would expect a few of us here at Kingdom FM have Twitter accounts and accordingly are on the radio DJ chart. As I sit here and write this, Ali McLaren is ranked #213, Mike Pelosi is # 185, Barry Snedden is #113 and I am ranked #127. I can hear the cogs turning just now… you’ve already worked out what I’m asking you to do! If you have 5 minutes to spare, I would be most grateful if you could ‘follow’ me on Twitter; help me get ahead of Barry at #113. At the moment it looks there is about 35 or so more people following him than me… so let’s see if, with your help, I can edge ahead on the list!

All The World’s A-Twitter!

January 30th, 2009

So it’d be crazy for Kingdom FM not to get involved!

Over the past few weeks you may have read about a website called ‘Twitter‘ . It has been getting quite a lot of coverage in the media because of it’s celebrity users; Jonathan Ross, Stephen Fry, Barack Obama and of course Barry Snedden, Ali McLaren, Mike Pelosi and little ol’ me! Okay… I’ll concede that the first few names might be a bit better known than the last few, but the point is, what we all have in common is that we ‘Tweet’ regularly on twitter.com.

As you’re reading this Blog you already know what a Blog is! Twitter, quite simply is micro-blogging; it’s saying whatever it is you want to say with just 140 characters. Think of it like a web-based text message. It’s a way to let all of your Followers (sign up to the site and you’ll understand that term better) know what’s happening with you and your life at any given time.

With that in mind, I thought that as we broadcast to Fife, we might as well ‘Tweet-cast’ as well! I’ll try to let you know what’s coming up in the show, as it happens, and be able to speak to you direct  and in real time through Twitter. If you’ve got a web enabled phone, you can even stay up to date when you’re mobile. You never know.. I might let you in on a few competition secrets and the like before I broadcast it on the radio!

we’d love to have you join us on Twitter. Just click here to sign up (it’s free!) and start tweeting with us at Kingdom FM!

My last Kingdom Blog before Christmas…

December 23rd, 2008

…but there’s no reason you can’t keep up to date with what’s happening thanks to micro-blogging!

Perhaps you’ve never heard the term ‘microblogging’ before. It was something I had never come across before the start of the year. It’s really just a very short blog… so short in fact that it was designed to be done within the constraints of a single text message i.e. 160 characters! As a bit of a ‘techy head’ I signed up to one of the many online micro-blogging sites way back then… and is often the case with such things, the novelty soon wore off. Then only a few days ago I read an article about the site I used (briefly!) for micro-blogging - Twitter. It seems that 20% of the sites users have signed up within the last 60 days - that’s quite a significant take up by any standard - and the site is now used by the great and the good, as well as lowly radio djs! Stephen Fry and Barack Obama are just two of the household names you can find ‘tweeting’ on Twitter on a regular basis. With a new found vigour, I made sure the username I had created was still active and I’m now (for now anyway!) ‘tweeting’ fairly regularly… I’ve even lnked it into my Facebook account.

If you fancy joining me online just create an account and add me here… and if we don’t speak between now and then, have a GREAT CHRISTMAS!
