The Latest Word Is Out Clip

August 3rd, 2011

We’ve not been playing with the current clip on The Word Is Out for too long. We started it on Monday the 25th of July, and we’ve played it three times every weekday ever since. That means we’ve already got a fair amount of wrong guesses on our list.

If you’ve missed any of the rounds so far, here’s a list of the wrong guesses:

Arrow, Star, Hoover, Spellmaster, Kindle, Skateboard, Bouquet, Gnoe, Dictionary, Watch, Plant, Sheep, Goldfish, Rolex, Walking Stick, Braces, Razor, Mug, Mirror, Thermos, Alarm, Staple Gun…

SEStran Two Capitals Cycle Ride (Update)

April 25th, 2011

So the countdown has begun. 54 Days to go until The SEStran two Capitals cycle ride.

Here is my progress so far:

We I now have a bike which I suppose is the most important thing that you would need so I am half way there.

I have also indulged myself by purchasing some new gadgets for the bike, including a holder for my iPhone, a new HD Video Camera to film my cycle and also a wireless headset for music and also so I can make phone calls too.

I thought with my level of physical fitness I should maybe get in some training. So far I have managed a staggering 5 miles on my bike and I felt like I would never walk again.

I will be out and about this week and I will update you on how I get on.

Remember it’s not too late to register for the cycle. Just visit www.twocapitals.org/

Speak to you all soon

Gary

SEStran 2 Capitals Cycle Ride

April 8th, 2011

Ian, Darren, Ali and I have signed up for the SEStran 2 Capitals Cycle Ride which will see us cycle from Pittencreif Park, Dunfermline to Ocean Terminal, Leith. I am starting to think this maybe wasn’t the best of idea’s I have ever had, however I have said I am taking part so I feel I now have made a commitment.

If you haven’t heard about the 2 Capitals Cycle Ride it is a non-competitive, all-age, all-abilities event that aims to promote cycling for all. The only think stopping me now is the fact that I don’t have a bike and I am extremely unfit. So it’s not looking good. Even the children will come in before me.

If over the coming weeks you see a small fat man at the side of the road with a bike trying to get his breath it is probably me trying out the new bike I plan to buy on Thursday. Please stop and give me some encouragement.

Happy New Year, Here’s Some Free Money!

January 4th, 2011

Happy New Year! Hope you had a great Christmas and New Year. Now we’re all (almost) back to normal, let’s concentrate on helping you pay for the festivities ahead of the credit card bills dropping through your letterbox!

The Word Is Out has, at the time of writing, reached an impressive amount - £920! That’s a whole bunch of free money so why not register to play the game live on air? You can register for either (or both!) of the rounds on Kingdom Breakfast with Ian & Diane weekdays mornings from 7am and then again from 9am. If you’re not a morning person, and I certainly know how that feels, then why not register to play the game with me every afternoon from 5pm. The game is played just 15 minutes after registration opens so you don’t have to wait too long to see if you’ll be getting the call back to play the game live on air!

We’ve had loads of wrong guesses so far, but remember that the correct answer is only one word! Here’s a list of some wrong guesses to get you started:

spoon, puppy, needle, coffin, kiss, skeleton, skull, button, cat, corpse, bus, diary, pencil, medal, hearse, safe, urn, whip, snowman, crocodile, parrot, yacht, magazine, newspaper, pizza, shoe, limb, thong, wheelchair, teeth, baby, finger, train, pen, sword, python, casket, train, hamster, cauldron, child, stump, piano, thimble, truss, wig.

Do You Need A Helping Hand To Win Over £600?

September 29th, 2010

It’s okay if you do, that’s what I’m here for!

Back at the tail end of August this year we started a new clip on The Word is Out with Fairprice Mobility and we’ve now managed to get the prize fund up past the £600 mark. With that in mind, I thought it only fair that I recap some of the wrong guesses we’ve had on air over the past few weeks. Remember, you can play the game live on air 15 times every week, so there’s no excuse for you not getting your hands on some free cash!

Enough waffle… this is the list of wrong guesses so far:

High heels, hoover, husband, underwear, shoes, potato peelings, handbags, glasses, rainwater, dishes, carrier bags, clothes, hair, jokes, toilet, boyfriend, organs, dentures, cycle, teenagers, tights, curlers, cuttings, furniture, makeup, shoes, car, self, toys, teabags, knitting, records, wheelbarrow, wardrobe, jewellery, soap, umbrella, money, decorations, mobile, world, gold, trophies, water, trees, friends, blood, batteries, lifestyle, curtains, laughter, dishes, magazines, rollers, knowledge, mattress, bicycle, computer, paint, tongs, age.

Can We Make It To £3000?!

August 11th, 2010

If we do manage to get to £3000 on the Word Is Out then there’s a good chance we’ll start to give out some clues to the missing word. BUT, we’re not there yet!

Today the prize fund stands at a record £2840; an undeniably
huge amount of cash. While we’re not quite at the stages of giving clues out yet, we are giving you even more chances to play the game and give us your guess live on air every Wednesday with the catchily titled ‘Word Is Out Wednesday’!
There’s no need to call to register on a Wednesday when you want to play the game; just make sure you are dialling at 7:15 and 9:15am and with me at 5:15pm. We’ll do what we can to get as many of you live on air as possible in the time we’ve been allotted to play the game.

In case you’ve missed some of the more recent guesses, here’s a sample of them…
Atmosphere (yes! AGAIN!!), Jacuzzi, company, toilet, scenery, hullaballoo, coordination, action, texting, communication, takeaways, comforts, soil, elements, bath, garden, rain, outdoors, monkeys, mates, hogmanay, keys, nature, wildlife, midges, snogging, cat, radio, town, liberty, concrete, ladies, church, roads, rainbows, cooking, gravity, conservation, moonlight, hilarity, problems, sound, air, wife, food, snow, bed, income, chippy, birdsong, electricity, sleep, wii, folks, skiing, hugs, income, pollution, congestion, traffic, intimacy, lottery, colour, environment, money, earthlings…

Happy New Year… now take our money!

January 5th, 2010

Happy New Year and welcome to 2010. I hope you had a great time over Christmas and New Year, but now that is all over and done with for another year, let’s concentrate on giving you some free money to help you pay the January post-Christmas bills!

Way back in September 2009 we started a new clip on The Word Is Out and it’s still going strong with the prize fund now above £1600! Over the course of the game we’ve given away some clues to the answer, but in case you missed them, here’s what we’ve told you so far:

# The answer is not a fruit of any sort
# The answer is a physical item i.e. not a feeling or reaction e.g. “shock”, “surprise”, “fright”
# The answer is not an item of jewellery
# The answer was described by Ian and Diane on Kingdom Breakfast as “…the sort of present your granny might give…”
# The rumour that the answer starts with the letter “T” was never given out on air.

Hopefully that helps a little! Remember, you can play The Word Is Out twice on Kingdom Breakfast with Ian and Diane at 7.15am and 9.15am and with me on Overdrive at 5.15pm.

2 Days to Go…

January 19th, 2009

… till the Wednesday Weigh In that is!

Last week as you know barry lost some weight, while I stayed the same in our station wide campaign (well, Ali is playing along but Kevin, Ian & Diane all seem to be happy with their waistlines!) to shed some of the pounds we all put on over Christmas. Since last Wednesday I like to think that I have been generally ‘good’! By that I mean I haven’t eaten too much chocolate and junk food. Or should I say I hadn’t until the weekend when I fell off the wagon a bit.

I’m still living in hope that this Wedneday I’ll have lost a pound or two. I suppose we’ll find out together at 5.15pm!
