It’s good to be back!

August 17th, 2009

I’m back….did you miss me?

Well, that was my Summer Holiday then! Two weeks off work, and 11 or so of those days spent in Cyprus. We were staying in a place near Paphos called Emba. I say “we”, because I was, for a time anyway, sharing my holiday with five women! I know what you’re thinking…. it’s a hard life! ;-)

Cyprus is somewhere I had never been before - you know me, I’m probably the least well travelled person you’ve ever met - but I’d definately go back. The weather was amazing. Not a single wet or overcast day and temperatures typically in the high 80s! You’re quite right, my porcelain skin did struggle a bit with those temperatures, but the factor 40 suncream helped ease the pain.

Sadly, it also meant that I’ve returned to Fife only slightly less pale than when I left. But, as I always say, “something is better than nothing!”.

I’m a little bit ‘de-mob’ happy this week

July 29th, 2009

I suspect that, from time to time this week, my mind has been wandering a bit.

As of Friday, I break off for my summer holiday, so I’m a little ‘de-mob’ happy at the moment! I’m heading off to the sun (hopefully!) for 11 days but, given my unusually pale skin, I suspect I won’t be spending too much of it actually sunbathing! Aside from the fact that even with Factor 50 suncream on (seriously!!) I have a tendency to go a bit bright red then peel horribly, I have to confess I find lying in the sun a bit dull. Music and books are all very well to distract me from the boredom, but that’s just a short term fix for me. Despite my educational background in English (we don’t mention my student days anymore… they were so long ago!) I’m not much of a reader. In fact, I’ve got a terrible confession to make that will have the avid book readers up in arms….. I have a bad habit of reading the last page of a book first!!

What can I say? Life’s too short to not know how it all turns out!

Feeling… hot hot hot !

July 3rd, 2009

Isn’t it funny that us Fifers are never happy with the weather? A few days of sunshine and us pale skinned folk desperately trying to find ways of cooling down or full of general moans!

I however have been making more plans for a trip to the beach… stateside! I can’t wait to see the differences between our seaside resorts. I grew up in Buntisland … and I’ll find out how different my old home town is to Virginia Beach on September 1st.

I have been blogging about this over on www.barrysnedden.com … and remember you can follow me on Twitter @barrysendden
