That’s More Like It

January 24th, 2009

Week 3 of the Wednesday WeighIn at the Weekend and great news: I’m down to 14st 13lb. It’s a drop of 3lb which is probably not a huge amount but psychologically it’s mega because the stones part has gone down. To ensure we’re comparing like for like, I’m ensuring that I always wear roughly the same clothes when I step on the scales. For the record it means that I empty my pockets and get rid of the hoodie or jumper but I do keep the shoes on. The shoes only add a couple of pounds but keeping them on means no one sees the holes in my socks.

I really had to go down this week because I’ve been quite sensible about what I eat. While I haven’t starved myself I have however been drinking more fluids and trying to stick to only eating at meal times. I also made it back to the gym and rather than repeating the mistakes of last year I had an easy start to the gym campaign with just 35 mins of cardio.

It’s a fortnight until the next WW@W because I’m away next weekend at a murder mystery event. A group of us are going to a hotel out by Loch Lomond for the night and part of the deal is this murder mystery evening. I’ve never been to anything like this before so don’t know what to expect but I’m pretty sure it’ll be a laugh.

New Year….Old Resolution

January 6th, 2009

How many times have you made a hasty New Year Resolution, only to have no intention of seeing it through? If you’re anything like me, the answer to that question is ‘too many times’! Resolutions can be a good thing though; a launchpad for making changes in your life. After the excesses of the Festive period, often the resolution has to do with weight and fitness… and I’m no exception!Yesterday on the show, just before Barry started his Kingdom Evening’s show at 7 o’clock, we agreed that we should try to lose some weight over the next few weeks. Playing the theme tune to the Rocky film helped put us in the right frame of mind! So, here’s the plan… from now until March (which I think is when my gym membership expires) we’ll do a weekly “Wednesday Weigh In” on Overdrive and every week we’ll both put our bodyweight up here on the website Blog. That way there can be no getting away from the facts! You can track our progress, and you are more than welcome to join in with the Overdrive Fitness Kick! Feel free to post comments about your progress if you want to share your tales of weight loss and if you’ve managed to find a secret method (that still allows me to eat chocolate and still lose weight!) then please don’t keep that to yourself!

Sunny, Cold, Dull, Windy, Rainy, … Wasps !

April 23rd, 2008

What is going on with the weather these days? Yesterday I was sitting, trying to avoid all the wasps flying in the open windows in the office, today as I write this it’s a typical spring day in Scotland, rain cloud, dull and cold … I’m sure you know what I mean.

It’s been a good couple of days. I got back into the swing of things at the gym … and even though it was less than a week since I was there, I had started missing it!

I have also been out and about as part of the Sticker Squad, spotting cars that are displaying Kingdom FM car stickers with pride. If you haven’t got one yet, you can email hello@kingdomfm.co.uk to get one. Just let us know who you are and where to send it, just make sure you listen in to see if we read out your registration number to win some cash.

I bought myself something today that you may expect me to have, but some how, I seem to have been with out for the last little while. I popped into a big electrical shop and picket up a proper radio! It’s a bit retro, it doesn’t have a digital display, and it has a knob you can twiddle! … However it’s brand new and you can pop an ipod on it. I like it a lot !!!

Links !

April 19th, 2008

OK OK … I know !!. I said I would write a blog before I got back from my holidays, but it just whizzed in.  Once I got back to work – things have been busy.  You are going to love some of the competitions that are just around the corner, I cant say too much about it, but if you sign up to be a Kingdom FM VIP then you will be the first to know.

Lniks

Still hitting the gym 3 or 4 times a week … but I have had a couple of days away, I had to squeeze in time to visit the links market after all. Kerenza, who works at Kingdom FM,  went on too many rides that spun round too fast.  I won’t go into details but I am glad I didn’t go on that last ride with her! If you are going this year, let us know how you get on and maybe you could send us some pictures ? Â

I survived!

April 7th, 2008

Good news! I survived the Body Pump class last week.

I made a point of not pushing myself too hard as I hadn’t done that class before. The last thing I wanted to happen was to put so much weight on the bar that mid ’skull crusher’ (how ominous does that sound!?) my arms gave way and the exercise lived up to it’s name!

I have to say that, while I’m sure classes are great for loads of people, generally speaking they aren’t for me! I prefer to push myself (or not!) in the gym and go at my own pace. Remember, slow and steady wins the race!

This May Be The Last Post!

April 3rd, 2008

Okay, I confess, I may be being slightly overdramatic!

By now you know that my new fitness programme is well and truly underway at Spirit Health and Fitness in Glenrothes. I’ve been going fairly regularly for about three weeks now. I’d say I’m feeling slightly less unfit but I think it’s fair to say I’m far from “sculpted”! :)

Tonight I’m doing something I’ve only ever done once before…and I’m not convinced I’ll survive! With that in mind, if this is my last Blog, at least you’ll know that it was a Body Pump class that was to blame!

Holiday !

March 25th, 2008

It’s been a busy start to the year, but I am getting to take some time off over the next couple of weeks. It seems everybody is jetting of to some flash holiday destination, but, I am perfectly happy to be spending a couple of weeks at home.

I am not sure, yet, how I will spend the time. I guess there will be more housework than ever to do, some DIY tasks for me to fail, and lots of moments where I may think ‘I’d rather be working just now’… well I say this on Day One, perhaps by the end of the first week I will be wanting even more time off.

I joined a gym with Darren the other week, we are still going regularly, and REALLY enjoying it. Perhaps I will have some muscle definition soon!

I’ll probably post again before I am back at work, I’m sure I will have something to talk / moan about.
