Hurrrah! The painting of the Forth Rail Bridge is completed! (nearly…..)

August 31st, 2010

Today, we celebrated the near completion of the painting of the Forth Rail Bridge - one year early!   Ian wondered if they used a roller of a paintbrush.  David texted in and suggested that they probably used a Dulux pod (though neither of us were exactly sure what that was!)

Amy Winehouse is going to give Pete Docherty a room in her new abode which got us talking about flatmates from hell!  Ian said that he used to share a flat with someone who insisted on sticking to house rules.  He said it was like being in the film, “Sleeping with the enemy.”

Don’t forget to tune in tomorrow.  Ian will be announcing the long awaited results of the best decorated coconut and there’s sad news on the show too - bring your tissues!!

We’ll be waiting from 6am tomorrow.  Love and kisses,  Ian and Diane xxx

Happy St Fiacre’s Day!

August 30th, 2010

Today we celebrated St Fiacre’s Day.  He is the Patron Saint of Cabbies.  We tried to make a list of good and bad things about taxi drivers but failed to find many good things to mention!

Cliff Richard was pictured on page 3 of the Daily Mail today looking absolutely amazing, considering he’s about to celebrate his 70th birthday.  He doesn’t seem to have an ounce of fat on him and has the body of a 30 year old.  He said that it’s all due to consuming 2 glassses of red wine per day and playing tennis 3 times a week.

John Lennon’s loo was up for auction at the weekend and went for the princely sum of £10,000.  A few of you called in to suggest that you could grow  lupins or sweet peas in it!

The £200 cash was not won on our show on the “Word is Out” today so don’t forget to tune in to Darren Stenhouse who’s back from his holibags.

We look forward to your company from 6am tomorrow morning.  Don’t be late!

Love and kisses, Ian and Diane xx

Way-Hey it’s Friday!

August 27th, 2010

There was a story in the papers about a woman who had invented an easy way to put your duvet on your bed by making it accessible on three sides.  It’s going to make her a heck of a lot of money for a very simple idea.  Ian couldn’t understand what all the fuss was about when you only normally change your bed twice a year - no wonder he lives alone!!

He was in a paticularly good mood today as a kindly neighbour had caught a couple of trout and offered it to him for his dinner tonight.  Many of you phoned in with a nice sauce to go with it so he’s fair excited about that!

You sent us some quality jokes for the Friday Funnies today.  The winner was George McCabe with “What do Robert the Bruce and Kermit the Frog have in common?”

“They both have the same middle name!”  Boom Boom!

It’s the final week of the Edinburgh Fringe so am going to try and catch some shows over the weekend.  There’s a great party atmosphere there at the moment.

Hope you all have a great weekend and we look forward to your company.  We’ll be waiting from 6am on Monday.

Love and kisses Diane and Ian x

Where do you hide yours?

August 26th, 2010

There was a story in the papers today about a man, who was travelling from Brussels,  being stopped at London Euston from after 50,000 euros was found in his pants!  We asked you where you liked to hide your money.  Gordon Simpson said that in the seventies, his father hid £400 in a storage heater and totally forgot about it being there.  He lit the storage heater and the money was never seen again.  He’s never got over it!

There’s a new flashy passport coming out with anti-fraud background pictures but they’re now charging us £77.50 to renew our passports!  Ian was outraged and  said he expected his photo to be taken by Lord Lichfield while posing on a fluffy rug at that price!

Don’t forget to text us any jokes you’ve received recently for the “Friday Funnies” so we’re guaranteed to have a good laugh tomorrow.

Hope you can join us from 6-10am.

Love and kisses,  Ian and Diane x

Happy Birthday Sir Sean!

August 25th, 2010

We celebrated Sir Sean Connery’s 80th birthday today and all agreed that he was the best James Bond of all time.  We asked you to come up with ideas as to what we could buy him for his birthday.  Malcolm from Kirkcaldy suggested that we buy him a mobility scooter with a snorkel for underwater use.  Becky suggested that we get him a job in

B&Q in the power tools department where he’d be “Licensed to Drill!”

David Cameron’s wife Sam gave birth to her fourth child and because she was born in Cornwall, the baby is going to be a cornish middle name.  Ian thought that Pastie would be rather apt but I’m not sure they’ll go for that!

There’s more chances to win a pair of tickets tomorrow for the fabulous musical “Sunshine On Leith” at Dundee Rep.

Don’t forget to tune from 6am tomorrow.  Love and kisses Ian and Diane x

Do you have a “little black book?”

August 24th, 2010

Katie Perry has conviscated Russell Brand’s “little

black book”  as she doesn’t want him contacting any

of his ex girlfriends.  I have never owned a little

black book but Ian did look rather sheepish and

confessed that he still had his although it was rather

worn now!

Ian has been boasting about going to the gym 5

times a week and is suggesting that my belly is

increasing every day so as from next week, my

new fitness regime will commence.  I’ve been

enjoying going to lots of shows at the Edinburgh

Fringe but as it finishes next Monday, I know

longer have an excuse!  I have to say that he is looking

a lot fitter since he got Roxy the dog so I may have to

borrow her.  It would be a lot more enjoyable than running on

the treadmill and lifting weights!

Don’t forget to join us tomorrow morning from 6am till 10am.  We’ll be waiting!

Love and kisses, Ian and Diane x

Hello from your Breakfast Team!

August 23rd, 2010

Well, the weekend went far too quickly for us both.  Ian was up in Cullen with his relatives and had a fabulous time walking Roxy on the beach. I went to see a few shows down at the Edinburgh Fringe.  I thoroughly recommend Reginald D Hunter who is a brilliant comedian with some thought-provoking material.  I also took Mo Lester to see Real to Reel at the Pleasance which she thoroughly enjoyed.

One show that I can highly recommend is “Sunshine on Leith.”  I’ve seen it twice already and we’re giving away tickets every day this week to go and see it at Dundee Rep.  It stars, Kirkcaldy lass,  Anne Smith and Billy Boyd, who was in Lord of the Rings and Master and Commander.

There’s a brand new Word is Out and it was great to hear a new fresh voice!

Don’t forget to join us tomorrow from 6-10am.  We’d love your company

August 20th, 2010

Looking forward to getting back to work tomorrow! You can call be any names you like for thinking this, I’m also quite excited about the return of The X Factor tomorrow night !!

I mean, yeaaah, we’ll have weeks of rubbish or surprising auditions and we’ll have the usual sob stories, but I like it ! If you believe some of the rumors, this will be the last British one, for a while if nothing else !

Whether you want to or not, you’ll probably hear LOTS about it … so go on … give in … its harmless fun ?!
