A welcome return…

…to the Word Is Out on Overdrive!

Every day you can win free money when you work out the word that is missing from the clip we play on air for you at 5.15. Of course, you can still play the game on Kingdom Breakfast with Ian & Diane at 7.15 and 9.15, but being the selfish sort of chap that I am, I’d much rather you won the money with me!

So far the wrong guesses we’ve had for The Word Is Out, and remember the new clip only started on air yesterday, include: Snakecharmer, Stripper, Janitor, Winetaster and Banker.

All good guesses, but all wrong! Every day we don’t have a winner we add £20 to the prize fund, so don’t leave it too long before registering to play, or someone else could win the money before you!

Back……. but broke!!!

It was good to be back in the chair today after my long weekend in Stockholm - it also gave my wallet the chance to recover from the shock!
I had been warned that the cost of meals and drinks out there was steep, but I didn’t expect a meal of one bruschetta, two pizzas and four beers would set me back £75!! Apart from the expense, Stockholm is a great place to visit - and if you look around, you can find some cheap flights and reasonable hotel deals.
Sadly I didn’t bump into an of the former members of Abba - but I did meet a totally mad artist and his wife from Amsterdam, who didn’t seem that interested in what I did at Kingdom FM, but had many questions to ask about Susan Boyle!!

p.s. If you are on Facebook, don’t forget to join the group “Kingdom FM Breakfast with Ian & Diane”.

Valerie Singleton would be proud of me!

It was a bit of a lonely last show of the week on Breakfast today as Diane ventured south for the weekend.  But an hour into the show, I thought of a way of not feeling so alone in the studio - with the aid of an upturned mop, two balloons and some sticky tape, it was suddenly like Diane was there with me.
All those years of watching Blue Peter have finally paid off!

“Everyone should have a hobby.

I distinctly remember someone saying that. Whether or not it was directed particularly at me or not, I don’t know. But it seems, on the hobby front at least, I’ve gone from one extreme to the other. Now, if anything, I may have too much to keep me busy!

You’ll remember that last year I concentrated on my photography with a year long project to take a single shot every day of the year. This year, so far at least, sadly the photography has fallen by the wayside a bit. (note to self: I must take pictures more frequently)

In place of the photography these days, you’ll either find me hitting the trails - sometimes I’m sorry to say literally - on my mountain bike or banging the h*ll out of my drum kit.

The cycling doesnt need any particular tuition; it is, after all, ‘like riding a bike’! The drumming on the other hand is a very different matter. I’ve had a few lessons now and I think it’s fair to say that my natural talents, if they exist at all, are not to be found in the realm of drumming!

That said, it’s great fun and it’s good for the old grey matter to learn new things.

Anyone want to start a band?!
